The National Workforce Skills Development Unit was established in April 2017 by NHS England’s Workforce, Training and Education Directorate in collaboration with the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust.
Driven by a team of passionate staff, the team is accountable to the Director of the Workforce Innovation Unit. Key partner agents advise and support the National Workforce Skills Development Unit in developing the education infrastructure, education delivery mechanism, and education competencies, necessary to improve mental health services for clients and patients throughout England.
The team works through networks, collaborations and partnerships and facilitates the development of the mental health workforce while supporting the mental health and wellbeing of health and care staff. In doing so, the team’s activities and initiatives meet the requirements of the Five Year forward view and the Five Year forward view for mental health.
