We were commissioned by the former Health Education England, now NHS England’s Workforce, Training and Education directorate (NHSE WT&E) to undertake an evaluation of the newly developed Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner training. The aim was to identify good practice and challenges in respect of implementation of one-year national training to inform the enhancement of future training provision. The overarching aim of this evaluation work was to support workforce development in order to contribute to the delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan’s ambitions. Our project focused on:
- identifying the challenges of the training implementation process
- examining the efficacy of the training delivery
- recognising the projected contribution of the trainees to the mental health service.
